Over 600 million trips were taken using public transportation in 2015, this is more than ever before and an increase of about 5 per cent.
All the modes of public transportation experienced growth but passenger boats had the largest increase with 10 percent more registered payments than in 2014, according to new figures from Statistics Norway.
The passenger increase comes in spite of reduced bus services. Since 2010, both ships, trains and the subway had a passenger growth of 27-28 percent, while the bus industry had only about half of that amount of growth.
The ticket revenues in the same period increased by 29 per cent overall and for the rail-based transport by an entire 48.2 percent.
