The foreign policy Committee arrived at formulations acceptable to all the parties in the Norwegian parliament  in the dispute over nuclear weapons.

Just like in the previous a period a majority in Stortinget are in favor of a long term ban on nuclear weapons, ” Anniken  Huitfeldt leader of the foreign policy committee said to the news agency NTB.
For a long time it was hard to find common ground betweenThe Labor Party and Right on the question of a ban on nuclear weapons something that is very unusual in important foreign policy questions.
Agree on the goal
There is no disagreement about the goal of a nuclear-free world, but the coalition parties were worried about formulations that could be considered to infringe on NATO’s strategic concept. This states that NATO is to have nuclear weapons, as long as there are nuclear weapons in the world.
“We have all along said that the goal has been a long-term ban on nuclear weapons based on mutual disarmament. We have never gone in for one sided disarmament,  Huitfeldt says.
