A male nurse is in Gulating Court of Appeal has been sentenced to four and a half years’ imprisonment for assaulting patients at Rusakutten in Bergen. Two men were raped.

While the patients lay helpless in Rusakutten, they were sexually abused by one of the nurses who was at work, reported the newspaper, Bergens Tidende.

According to the court judgment, a total of four men were abused. Two were raped in the form of masturbation while they slept.

One patient was subjected to an attempt at the same, but the man woke up and managed to prevent the assault.

A fourth man was subjected to a sexual act while slept, by the nurse stroking his chest.

The rape was captured by a surveillance camera, and the recording was played in court.

The nurse was sentenced by the court to four and a half years in prison, with a half year suspended.

The court of appeal aimed to sharpen the punishment by making all judgment unconditional. The court, however, requires the penalty to be reduced by just over six months since the matter was left for two years with the police before charges were brought.

The nurse is also deprived of the right to hold positions that involve caring for patients, and must pay compensation damages of 125,000 to two of the victims and 100,000 to a third party.
