The government will reduce the old submarine navy before new ones are procured.
Defense has six Ula class submarines which become in service from 1989 to 1992, therefore the Government will reduce the number of submarines to four Ula class before new submarines will take over.
New submarines are scheduled to be put in service from 2026 to 2030, said by government of the Armed Forces as Long-Term Plan.
Ula class submarines have an expected life of 30 years which means that the submarines must remain in service beyond original lifetime.
The government plans to submit a proposal for ordering new submarines to Parliament during 2017.
