Over 250,000 have thrown waste that can be recycled or reused in recycling facilities in Oslo.
Particularly well attended are the plants at Haraldrud, Grønmo and Smestad. On Friday 6 May, it set a visitor record with a total of 4,805 customers visiting the facilities, informs Sanitation Department of Oslo.
This has led to an increasing delivery of waste that can be reused. During the first four months of last year, 281 tonnes was collected, while in the same period this year 325 tons was collected.
– We must take care of things that are already manufactured and keep it in circulation as long as possible. We have to abandon “use and discard” in favor of “use and share”, says communications director Kristin Bergersen from the municipal solid waste disposal authority.
On the plants, one can deliver waste that cannot be disposed of in the normal waste bin at home. Garden waste, wood, combustible and non-combustible waste are the types of waste people deliver the most of.
