The opening of the new Løren subway station on Sunday makes Oslo the largest subway city in Scandinavia.
Adorned with flowers and loaded with Oslo’s top politicians and other Metro enthusiasts the first subway train to Løren drove from Parliament at 13 o’clock.
In addition to the new metro station, the first new built in the capital in ten years, a new subway tunnel will be opened between Økern and Sinsen. This means that Oslo now has the largest underground network in the Nordic region with 101 stations and it will also bind the western and eastern parts of the city together in a new way.
– The development is a milestone for the development of new residential areas in Oslo in Oslo, City Council Leader Raymond Johansen says.

Largest in the number of stations, but then rather use most in numbers. Stockholm has 100 stations yes, but three separate systems – serving 320 million travellers per year, compared to Oslo with 88 million. Oslo has also less rail, so biggest can mean so much!
