Parliament Politicians from Labour, Left, Left Party and the Green Party will provide both Østmarka and Pulpit the national park status.

It appears a proposal is under consideration by the energy and environment committee.
The government asked to launch an effort to expand the national park plan from 1993 “with the aim to establish National Østmarka and National Pulpit parks.”

Oslo City Council announced last summer a new attempt to make Østmarka a national park. A previous attempt in 2013 didn’t happen because the other surrounding communities said no.

– This may be the last opportunity to create a national forest area in Southeast Norway. Østmarka is valuable nature and is not well enough secured through the forest law, according to the proposal of MPs.

A requirement to protect Pulpit Rock was already as well in 2008.
The proposal shall be dealt with in a committee in mid-October.
