The South-Eastern Board of the Norwegian Health authority, as expected, is to  close down Ulleval Hospital and to build a new, larger hospital at Gaustad, as NRK reported.

According to the channel, the top management on the Board unanimously supported the future plans for the hospital sector in the capital.

The new larger hospital will be at Gaustad where Rikshospitalet is located today, with 87,000 square meters.

The Board has also decided to build a new local hospital in Aker, and in addition, to move and gather all cancer operations to today’s Radium Hospital.

For people in the Oslo districts of Alna, Grorud and Stovner, Aker will become their local hospital in the future. This belongs to Akershus University Hospital (Ahus) in Lørenskog, as disclosed today by the South-Eastern Board of the Norwegian Health authority.
