Police ask NCIS, Kripos, to review Espås case with new eyes

The chief of police in Sunnmøre Police distraction are now asking the NCIS, Krispos, Cold Case Unit to go through investigation material after the murder of Trude Espås.

Monday next week will be the 20th anniversary of the woman from Orkanger who was raped and killed on the outskirts of the tourist village Geiranger in western Norway.

– The murder of Trude Espås in Geiranger has never been dismissed from the police. It will continue into the new tips that are investigated but unfortunately we have not managed to find the perpetrator, said police chief Ingar Bøen and Romsdal to newspaper Sør-Trøndelag.

Based on the input from the newspaper the digitization of the entire comprehensive investigation material is allowing NCIS to investigate the case with the new device for serious unsolved cases.

The extensive investigation work including the record of 5,000 people who stayed in Geiranger on time of the murder, interrogation of over 3,000 people in 37 countries and saving of 15,000 tourist photos have not been successful.

The case has attracted the different involvement and has been under the focus several times such as recently TV2 documentary “Crime scene Norway» shown from January this year.
