The accidental shot went off inside the sheriff’s office in Namsos and Fosnes on November 20 last year,  the newspaper VG writes.
According to a writ by the  Norwegian Bureau for the Investigation of Police Affairs in February, the policeman stuck a finger down in the gun holster his colleague carried on the hip and fired a shot when she was going to pull his hand back.
“He had not previously ascertained that the gun was unloaded” states the writ, the newspaper said.
According to the Bureau the policeman  wanted  to ‘show or try something on her service pistol while it was still in the holster she carried on the hip. He got behind her and the next thing she remembers is that it said “bang” and that she was lying on the floor and  “really hurt” in the right leg, ” according to the writ.
The shot hit the female police officer below the right knee and went out of the leg about 20 cm further down. It did not hit any bones, but the woman has got nerve damage in the leg.
The policeman was  fined  12,000 kroner by the Norwegian Bureau for the Investigation of Police Affairs . The man has accepted the fine.
