Polish liquor smuggler must spend one year in prison

A 36 years old Polish man who was taken in last June with 114 liters of spirits, 606 liters of wine and 378 liters of beer in the car at Svinesund, is in Halden District Court and is sentenced to one-year imprisonment.

In addition to smuggling the man was expelled from Norway for two years in April. He has been caught smuggling therefore prosecuted for violations of immigration law.

The defendant Polish breed an unreserved confession and pleaded guilty after both prosecution records at the hearing on Friday.

Contraband goods and the car, a VW Transporter, are forfeited to the Treasury.
– The Court finds it highly likely that the car will once again be used for smuggling, if not withdrawn, said the ruling.

The Polish guy has been in custody since his was arrested and will receive 50 days deducted from the sentence of imprisonment for this.
