Three out of four children aged 9-12 years have their own smart phone. In many ways, this also functions as an advanced computer, providing access to all the information on the web, even porn.

The European survey, EU Kids Online shows that a third of children aged 916 years have looked at or come across porn in the last year, write newspaper Adresseavisen. The media supervision has carried out a survey among the parents of Norwegian children between 9 and 12. In the survey eight percent replied that the children have come across porn on the net. When the kids get older, parents often do not know about the children’s involvement with porn.

Senior Adviser Thomas HauganHepsø in the media supervision points out that there is concern among the parents of 9-12-year-olds about the availability of pornographic content on the internet .
“We see that children start making use of the internet much earlier than before. The most important thing is that parents and school are involved and engaged in their children’s net activities, and that they early on start talking with their kids about issues that are important when you are young and curious. Children and young people are entering an exciting landscape that is primarily made by and for adults. Because of this we need to make sure they get clear instruction and guidance from day one,  HauganHepsø points out
