For the first time in history  the rainbow   flag is  waving over the city hall in Kristiansand. On Saturday morning Stian Storbukås (FRP) invited the  organizers behind the Pride Sørland Days to a breakfast.

After the vandalism against rainbow flags in the city earlier this week, he assures that the politicians in the city are ready to fight for gay rights.

-We often take for granted the right for people to be themselves, regardless of religion or sexual orientation,  but in recent days we have seen that we can not necessarily do so.

The flag burning, and the banners we would like to have done without, has made us battle-ready, angry and tired,  Storbukås says to the newspaper Fædrelandsvennen.

Since the biggest flags of the Association for gender and sexuality diversity South (FRI South) have been destroyed by fire, one of the smaller flags will be raised.

The rainbow flags that were raised ahead of Saturday’s Pride festival in Kristiansand, was cut down and replaced with homophobic banners.

Security has been tightened at the event because of the incident, which has alarmed many participants.

The parade will run from Markens street on Saturday afternoon, and a large number of people is expected to take part.
