Abid Q. Raja on sick leave after scolding by Grande

Norwegian Member of Parliament for the Liberals (Venstre), Abid Q. Raja, is allegedly on sick leave as a result of being scolded by his Party Leader, Trine Skei Grande.

With top politicians from other parties present, Liberal Leader, Trine Skei Grande, accused her party colleague, Abid Q, Raja, of undermining the entire budget process and his own party, writes Dagens Næringsliv.

Now Raja, who led Liberals negotiations with the Progress Party (Frp), the Conservatives (Høyre) and the Christian Democrats (KrF) in the budget process, is on sick leave. He does not want to comment on the matter himself other than to confirm that he is on sick leave. DN confirms via sources in the Government parties that Raja has informed colleagues that he is sick because Grande has made him so.

According to the newspaper, Grande has come up with strongly diminishing characteristics of her profiled party colleague when the budget partners asked for her clarification over the phone after Raja claimed that the Liberals would not accept Frp’s reversal of cuts in the support to the Main Rescue Central Southern Norway (HRS). The telephone conversation took place on November 10th, when the budget negotiations were in the start-up phase.

– It is true that there has been a discussion about a matter in the budget and that in this case it went a bit far and words were used that would better have been left unsaid. I have apologised for that, says Grande.
