So far this year over 2,500 kg of cannabis has been seized; more than in all of 2015, the largest seizure amount ever.
During the first half of the year 2,534 kg of cannabis was seized, informed Kripos.
– in 2016 we have made several seizures of over one hundred kilograms of hashish, the largest was more than 630 kg in Østfold. It is one of the largest marijuana seizures ever, said Kari Frey Solvik, Head of the Section for drug analysis in Kripos.
The potency of cannabis resin has been sharply increasing in recent years.
After cannabis products hashish, marijuana and cannabis plants amphetamines or methamphetamine and benzodiazepines are the most frequently seized narcotics in Norway.
5.3 kg of heroin had been seized so far this year, which equates to fewer seizures when compared with 2015.
