Both King Harald and Prime Minister Erna Solberg were present when the Rescue Society opened its anniversary exhibition at Bygdøy in Oslo.
The exhibition, named “Nobody will drown” at the Norwegian Maritime Museum , offers the public an insight into the Rescue Society’s activities over the last 125 years.
Amongst other items they are displaying an eight-meter long rubber dinghy filled with one hundred life jackets. as such boats and vests are used by refugees who are coming over from Turkey to Greece.
Both the king and the prime minister were offered to try on VR glasses and to “go on board” in the rescue vessel “Idar Ulstein,” and the Prime Minister volunteered.
– It is always makes such nice pictures, joked the Prime Minister.
Since 1891, the Rescue Society has saved over 6,400 people from death and over 600,000 have received help at sea.
