The Rainbow flags that were hoisted up in connection with Saturday’s Pride festival in Kristiansand, were cut down and replaced with gay hostile banners.

“Crush the gay lobby”, it says on the banners that were hoisted up by the Nordic Resistance. The website of this nationalist group described how the rainbow flags that were hung on Lund bridge in Kristiansand were cut down and burned, reported NRK news.

Will report the action

This created fears among several of the festival’s participants, says Monica Beach Korgerud, director of the Association for gender and sexuality diversity South (FRI).

– We will view this as hate crimes, for that is what it is. We have seen the website of the group behind this, and it is the classic right-wing extremist ideology that is promoted, she says to Fædrelandsvennen.

Now the FRI association have to sharpen security measures due to the hostility they encountered.

Happened before

The Rainbow flags were hoisted on a total of four flagpoles on the bridge, but all the flags had been removed within one day.

– This is not drunken people who have improvised, this is done intentionally. We hung up four flags on Tuesday, and they were already gone by six o’clock on Wednesday morning. They did not hang for even a day , said Korgerud.

This is the second time that the rainbow flags are cut down in Kristiansand.
The same happened also last year.
