Ropstad is ready to take over the Christian Democrats

Deputy Leader in the Christian Democratic Party (Kristelig Folkeparti-KrF), Kjell Ingolf Ropstad, is ready to take over as its leader, key sources in the party announce to the Norwegian newspaper, Dagbladet.

Sources on Hareide’s side says that Ropstad has positioned himself as a challenger for the party leader position through several calculated media outbursts.

“Hareide is no longer a unifying leader. It is clear that he is making every conceivable effort to secure a win for his view at the Country Assembly. He burns all bridges to the bourgeois side, plays a high stakes game and shows poor leadership,” says a central source on the bourgeois side of the party to Dagbladet.

The party believes that there are no other current candidates than Ropstad to take over as the KrF leader if Hareide’s line does not prevail.

Another centrally located party source confirms that they are on the verge of a power struggle within the party and that Ropstad has positioned himself as Hareide’s only challenger.
