Sales of personal watercraft have doubled in one year, from 700 to 1400 in 2015.

Since permission was granted to use jet skis from July 2013, sales of personal watercraft have skyrocketed. Sales have increased by 50 percent, from 700 in 2014 to 1400 in 2015, according the boat brach union
Norboat.
BRP, which is one of the largest importers of watercraft to Norway, told NTB that sales figure are at the same level so far this year as last year.

In 2013, the ban on the use of jet skis was replaced with a system where the use of jet skis are allowed as long it remains at least 400 meters from land at sea and 500 meters from the shore in fresh water.

The Government intends to submit a consultation proposal to repeal watercraft regulations over the summer. In practice this means an unwinding of the regulations and a side track of personal watercraft and yachting rules.
