SAS boss,Rickard Gustafson, will no longer protest the airline fee,as long as all money is spent on biofuel.
“We need a solution to zero emissions from the airline industry, and biofuels are essential to reach that goal. Today it’s too expensive to buy.If we are to start a large production of biofuels in Scandinavia,political incentives are needed’’ said Gustafson to Dagens Næringsliv newspaper.
Under one percent of the fuel used at Oslo Airport is biofuel,and it is supplied by British oil company, BP, wrote the newspaper.The government announced last autumn that airlines should be forced to use 0.5 percent biofuel by 2020.
In this year’s state budget, the government proposed reducing the airline fare on travel in Norway and Europe by NOK 75 per journey,but increasing it to 200 kroner on trips outside of Europe.
The controversial air passenger fee was passed by parliament in December 2015, and was introduced on June 1st, 2016.
