A school headmaster in the 50s was sentenced in Namdalen District Court to 16 months in prison for having committed a sexual assault against an eight-year-old girl.

The man must also pay the girl a compensation of 120,000 kroner after the assault happened in January this year, NRK reported. Both punishment and compensation is in line with the prosecutor’s assertion.

The man was visiting the girl and her mother when they all three stayed in the same bed. During the trial it appeared that both adults were drunk when the assault happened. The man denied culpability when the proceedings started.

The condemned man has a central position in the school system and has previously been headmaster of the school where the girl goes. He has been both sick and laid off from work since the incident in January.
