Scotland’s first minister Nicola Sturgeon has hinted that the Scottish Government may apply for EEA membership.

The First Minister has stated that such solutions are “of course being studied,” writes The Press and Journal.
That way Scotland could get a similar relationship with the EU as Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein have today through the EEA agreement.
Most likely a membership in the EEA would require approval from both the UK and EU, the newspaper continued.
Sturgeon argues simultaneously that her priority is to keep the UK together in a common market after Brexit.
According to the Scottish Conservative Party finance spokesperson Murdo Fraser a potentially EEA membership is “totally unacceptable.”
