About 30 percent More seek abuse center in Oslo.

About 30 percent more people have sought out the sexual assault center in Oslo in June and July of this year, compared to the monthly average in recent years.

Abuse centers informs NRK news that surveys still indicate that only 10 percent of those who have experienced sexual abuse, report it.

While the sexual assault center had around a hundred cases in June and July, Dixi resource center for rape victims received inquiries from nearly 90 people in May and June.

– We’ve never seen such numbers before. It may be a combination of media attention, several information campaigns and more party life that enables the increase in reports, said Helle Nesvold, a consultant on sexual assault center in Oslo to NRK.

Also in the half-year figures for the Oslo police there are increasing numbers. In the first half of 2016 390 investigations were registered for sexual offenses, an increase of 27.9 percent from last year.
