The number of patients receiving treatment in hospitals is increasing, and the wait for treatment in general hospitals, mental health care and interdisciplinary specialized drug treatments went down.
Meanwhile, fewer children and young people within mental health problems receive treatment, and the wait increased by one day. These are the figures for the first four months of 2016 as Specialist Health care reported to the Norwegian Patient Register.
The average waiting time was 63 days in the somatic sector, a decrease of 8 days from the same period last year. Within interdisciplinary specialized substance abuse treatment (TSB) the wait went down by eleven days, whilst in mental health care for adults the wait went down by seven days.
1.07 million patients were treated in general hospitals in 1st four months of 2016, representing an increase of 3.8 percent compared with the same period last year.
Nearly 94,000 adults received mental health care in 1st four months of 2016. This is an increase of 1.7 percent from the corresponding period in 2015. 38,500 children and young people received treatment, which corresponds to a decline of 0.5 percent.
Within TSB about 23,000 patients received health care the first four months of 2016. This is an increase of 2.6 percent from the same period in 2015.
