The government have been  been in a meeting with its supporting parties to talk about the controversial proposals for the tightening of the asylum policies. – We will not change the proposals, Prime Minister Erna Solberg said.
The aim of asylum meeting Tuesday morning was to go through the proposals who are to be sent out for consultation, solve pending issues and identify the points that are most difficult for the various settlement partners.
After the meeting, which lasted for about an hour, was over all the parties agreed that it had been a good, constructive and interesting meeting.
– We had good input and discussions. Now we all know the positions of the respective parties better. We have listened to suggestions, but will not change the proposals in question,  Solberg said.
The Minister of   Immigration and Integration Sylvi Listhaug added that they now will be working feverishly to get the austerity proposals in place for the week after Easter.
Liberal leader Trine Skei Grande believes the government faces a big challenge ahead.
– The proposals have major weaknesses and in many ways contravene the  settlement made in the parliament. I hope the government will take the input to heart, and then it will be up to them to put forward a proposal that is work involving the settlement, she said.
