Prime Minister Erna Solberg says she is most concerned about the political consequences of Britain leaving the EU.

The results of the referendum Thursday show that a majority of the voters wants Britain to leave the EU.

– British voters have spoken, so that’s the way it’s going to be, the Prime Minister said to NRK news.
Solberg said she is most concerned about the political consequences of the British EU withdrawal.

– I think this will lead to a Europe that will be more inwardlooking, which will be concerned with finding the solutions to organizational problems instead of answering the things that voters  really will need answers to. How do we get  enough growth? How do we create jobs?
The final result shows that 51.9 percent of the British voted for brexit.

– This should be a warning the EU leaders and national leaders in the European countries, that giving young people hope for the future by ensuring that they get more jobs  are among the most important things for us do,  Solberg says.
Britain now leaving of the EU has no consequences for the EEA Agreement, says Solberg.

– We have a good EEA agreement with the EU. So this depends on what Britain’s agreement with the EU will be like, and the effect this will have on Norway. Our relations with the EU remains unchanged, and our relationship with the United Kingdom is also clarified for  the short term, she says.
– We need to work on how we should prioritize that Norwegian interests are best served by the EU in the times ahead, and the question is how we will go about finding political solutions.

On Friday Prime Minister David Cameron announced  his resignation, and Solberg took the opportunity to thank him for a good and close cooperation – both as prime minister colleagues and party colleagues
