Solberg: The British must decide for themselves

I make no recommendations, said Prime Minister Erna Solberg when the British asked her about the EU.

– It is up to the British to decide, but we are part of the four freedoms. We have free movement of labor, and we are part of EU social legislation. I have a feeling that  was not what the Brexit campaign was about, says Solberg (H) when the British press in Brussels ask the Prime Minister about her advice after the majority verdict for a EU withdrawal.

– If you don’t like that Brussels decides when sitting at the table, you would hardly like that Brussels decides without sitting at the table, she maintains to Norwegian journalists.

She emphasizes that she thinks the EEA Agreement is a good solution for Norway, and that the agreement is not in jeopardy.
– We have a good deal and a good relationship with the EU and  it is important that we retain that she says , as far as Norway is concerned, as “a small country that relies on market access.”
