Prime Minister Erna Solberg thinks Norway has got NATO to agree to put more emphasis on safety in the northern seas.

– Yes, I think it’s been substantially covered in this final communique. That’s good, it means that this concern will be taken into consideration in the long term planning of NATO in times ahead,  Solberg says to the news agency NTB on her way home from the NATO summit in Poland.
The need to secure the maritime strategy in NATO was one of the key messages from Norwegian side at the summit in Warsaw Friday and Saturday. Solberg has feared that this will be forgotten with the strong spotlight NATO put on its activities and challenges to the east and to the south.
– In North Atlantic the alliance is “ready to   defend against and deter any possible threat,”  NATO writes in the final document of the meeting and include possible threats to communication lines among those threats.
