As the Norwegian prime minister, Erna Solberg will attend the summit this year under the auspices of the G7 countries in Quebec, Canada, at the end of next week.

It was Canada’s Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, who invited Solberg to hold a lecture at the meeting, Aftenposten reported.

During the visit to Quebec, Solberg will be able to meet US President Donald Trump, along with the leaders of the six other G7 members, Germany, France,Britain, Italy, Canada and Japan. Solberg described this as a “unique opportunity”.

“I am pleased to have the opportunity to attend the G7 meeting and to take up sustainable sea economics,” said the prime minister.

“The sea gives us great opportunities, but also big challenges, such as how we should fight for ecological shipping and against plastic in the ocean. Here, the world’s countries must cooperate,” she said.

The meeting will take place on the 8th and 9th of June. Solberg will first attend a two and a half hour session with lunch and lectures on Saturday afternoon local time.Erna Solberg will probably talk about everything from climate challenges in the North to sustainable fisheries management, as well as how it is to be both a fisheries and oil industry producer at one and the same time, Aftenposten newspaper wrote.

Solberg’s lecture will take place on day two of the G7 meeting, in an extended session where the sea areas are on the agenda.
