Prime Minister Erna Solberg met Tuesday UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon. They talked amongst other things about the sustainability goals and the Paris Agreement.

– Norway has presented a national report on the sustainability goals. This concerns both identifying specific areas where we must make an effort, and discussing the process and how this is anchored explains Solberg to the news agency NTB.

– These are familiar themes, including that we should ensure a more inclusive society. It includes both integration and matters like taking better care of those who fall outside the school system or who are struggling with mental health problems, the Prime Minister said.
UN member states adopted last autumn 17 sustainability goals, which will be the world community’s  guideline in the global fight against poverty, combating inequality and climate change.

On Tuesday 22 countries which submitted their reports on sustainability goals. Norway and Germany were the only industrialized nations to do so. Solberg said before the meeting that Norway wanted to be among the first to report. This is important because Norway want to focus on marked changes and visible results in the work and follow-up of UN sustainability goals, she says.

The Prime Minister also discussed education for children and young people when she met Ban Ki-moon, where Norway has initiated a commission to look into the financing of education options.
