Prime Minister Erna Solberg put some of her thoughts about the helicopter accident at Turøy into words in a blog post.

“It was an emotional meeting with relatives in Bergen yesterday. For many families, this weekend has been quite different than they imagined,” Solberg opened her post with.
On Saturday, the Prime Minister visited a bereavement center in Bergen. For almost two hours, Solberg and the Crown Prince and Princess were together with the families who have lost loved ones in the accident.
A dark day for the country
In the blog post, which was posted on Sunday, Solberg wrote about how the accident shows how fragile life is and how suddenly everything can change.
“What was supposed to be an everyday commute from work in the North Sea ended in tragedy,” she writes.
“Friday was a dark day. Darkest of those who lost one of their own. But it was dark for Norway as a country as well,” writes Prime Minister.
She continues on to thank the many who have driven the oil and gas sector since the first exploration well was drilled on the Norwegian shelf 50 years ago.
“When accidents happen, we are left with many questions. What went wrong and how could the unreal become reality?” she writes, and continues:
“The investigation will hopefully provide answers. I have confidence in the authorities and institutions now needed to do this important job.”
