If the summit in Singapore is the start of a real nuclear disarmament in North Korea, then it’s a very positive contribution, says Prime Minister Erna Solberg.
Night to Tuesday, Trump and Kim meet at a historic summit in Singapore, where the goal is to get a nuclear agreement with North Korea, leading to the regime closing its nuclear program.
“If North Korea stops its program, creates rules that are transparent and with the ability to follow up for others, it’s a very positive contribution. For all of us who are concerned with the pressure against the non-proliferation agreement, this is important, “says Solberg to NTB.
She believes that in advance it is completely impossible to know what the outcome of the meeting will be.
“It has come about very quickly and no final document has been worked out in advance, as is usual at summits. It is therefore impossible to give an analysis of what the outcome will actually be, “said the Prime Minister, who last week met Trump at the G7 meeting in Quebec.
What matters to Solberg is whether steps are taken to get closer to the North Korean nuclear program.
“This is the most important part of the meeting, because if it were to end up with nuclear weapons in North Korea, it would create extreme instability throughout Asia,” said Solberg.
