More subscribers than expected will get newspaper on Saturday, despite the problems with the distribution company nimble, claims Minister of Transport Ketil Solvik-Olsen.

– We find that Nimble has been very good to adapt and fill the voids that eventually emerged from the newspapers’ own distribution, Solvik-Olsen told the newspaper Dagens Næringsliv.

The state saved nearly 100 million Kroner when the tender to deliver Saturday newspapers in rural areas went to the small company nimble in Ålesund in competition with Posten.

According to the Norwegian Media Businesses’ Association (MBL) changing of distributor led to the 45,000 subscribers did not receive the newspaper in their mailbox on Saturday.

According Solvik-Olsen the real number is probably much lower. Monday Minister met the representatives of the newspaper industry.

– Substantial part of the number provided here are related to the newspapers that did not come up on Saturdays, such as the one going to companies or offices which are not working during weekends.

This is information that it’s okay to get out before starting to blame nimble, says Solvik-Olsen.
