Despite the amendment which allows the shops of the State wine and liquor monopoly to stay open on Easter eve, Wednesday will be the last chance to purchase wines this Easter, just like before. The collective agreement  for the employees at  the wine and liquour monopoly does not permit them to work on the public holidays of Easter.
– It is important that people are aware that our shops  still will be closed on Easter Saturday despite the amendment allow us to stay open,  information officer Ida Brenden Engholt in Vinmonopolet says to E24.
– This is because we have not quite finished negotiating the terms with the unions. We are working on the negotiations now, and next year we will be open on Easter Saturday as well, she promises.
This means that Wednesday 23. March will be the last opportunity for those who want to secure themselves wine for the holidays at home. Just across the border however, there is another opportunity to make the final wine purchases for Easter on Easter Saturday. Systembolaget in Stromstad is open until 15 o’clock that day.
