180 employees must go.  Telenor is closing down its offices in several locations around the country, and approximately 180 employees will be affected by the closures.

In Steinkjer 21 employees have been offered severance packages for when their office closes on 31 December.

In Forde 17 are affected by the closure, but all are being offered work with the Telenor branch in Rørvik in Nord-Trondelag. They are also offered severance packages. The office will close on March 31, 2017.

In Stavanger the customer service center for businesses will be closed down from April next year, and 84 people will be affected. Everyone will be offered a job either at Kongsvinger or Rørvik . They will also be offered a severance package.

At Telenor’s headquarters at Fornebu, about 60 people will be redundant after a reorganization of the business division.

At Lillehammer the office will be closed soon on November 30, and 46 employees will be merged with Telenor’s department at Fåberg.

– Telenor will be left with 24 offices after this change. The employees affected will be offered severance agreements according to seniority, said Berit Svendsen, the CEO of Telenor Norway.

The reason for the reorganization is the changed market situation.
– Many employees who have been withy us and done a good job for Telenor for many years have today received a sad  message.

They will now be followed up closely in the unfolding process. It is not an easy decision to reduce jobs, but we must at the same time renew and change our expertise, says Svendsen.
