The Telenor management   may expect demanding and thorough questions after an estimated 1 million customers were left without mobile coverage for several hours Friday.

So says Deputy Director Einar Lunde in Norwegian Post and Telecommunications Authority (Nkom), which next week begins the effort to investigate the incident, .

Serious
After a mistake in 2014 was Telenor received a bill of NOK 9 million, but Lunde will not make any assumptions about what the reaction will be this time.
– We have no basis to speculate on whether there will be any formal reaction. It depends on what caused the problems, says the director said.
Either way, he has no doubt that the incident Friday was serious.
– It’s such a large amount of time, and it affects many people – in the order of 1 million. 20 years ago people would not be bothered if they were unable to use their mobile phone for a couple of hours, now it’s only a few minutes until people start to worry. It shows how important this is to society, says Einar Lunde.

Several hours of trouble
The error occurred at 11:45 o’clock Friday morning.
– At 15.30  Friday  eveything was back to normal, with ordinary traffic for our customers,  press officer Magnus Line CEO Telenor says.
