Since July, ten robberies have been investigated by police in Stavanger. There are clear similarities between several of the robberies.

This weekend, two men in their 50s were attacked and robbed in Hundvåg. Both were on the way home from the city, and both say they were attacked by four men, reported the Stavanger Aftenblad newspaper.

‘Investigating these cases, we also noticed other unsolved robberies in the city. It is too early to say with certainty that the same method was used, but there are clear similarities between several Stavanger robberies in recent months’, said Trond Atle Bjelland, who heads the Stavanger police investigation team.

A third robbery reported on Friday night couldn’t have been carried out by the same people, as it happened at the same time as the crimes at Hundvåg.

Despite ten investigations during the last three months, Bjelland said Stavanger remains a ‘safe city’.

‘It has been, and it shall be in the future. That’s why we allocate considerable resources to resolve these matters. I do not want to say exactly how many police officers are working on this, but I can confirm that this investigation is a high priority’, said Trond Atle Bjelland.
