Large crowds gathered on Saturday in the Israeli city of Tel Aviv in honour of former Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, who was shot dead on 4 November 1995.

The annual celebration was in danger of being canceled due to lack of funds for the organisers, but finally went ahead as planned.

It is estimated that between 20,000 and 50,000 attended to honour the Nobel Prize winner, who was shot by a Jewish extremist.

The celebration has traditionally been held to honour Rabin, and to show support for peace with the Palestinians.
