Animal protection organization NOAH has received 142,979 signatures against Norwegian fur farming. However, around one-third of these came from abroad.

The newspaper requested access to the signature lists that were handed over to Agriculture Minister Jon Georg Dale in October.
In front it is written “the people have spoken” followed by a request from NOAH to phase out fur farming.
Fur farmers’ organization, Norwegian Pelsdyralslag, says that the use of foreign signatures is very startling.
– I am very inquisitive as to how representative the signatures of NOAH are. If what we’ve uncovered is correct, then this is a way of working we do not support, says communications manager Guri Wormdahl.
The newspaper said the signatures come from countries around the world including Italy, Slovakia, Australia, Singapore, USA, Canada and many more.
NOAH leader Siri Martinsen says they have deliberately targeted the campaign against Norwegians.
– We have only spread it in Norway.
And it is in Norwegian, so you have to read a long Norwegian text to see what it is. There are a lot of Norwegians living abroad, and they have relatives and friends who might want to sign.
