Around 3,000 men and women celebrated International Women’s Day Tuesday by marching through the streets of Oslo under the slogan “Feminism has no borders. Give protection to women on the run. ”
The leader of the March 8 Committee in Oslo, Seher Aydar, lists struggle against violence and rape, enforcement of sex trade law and the fight for equal pay as important women’s issues here at home. But this year all the main slogans have to do with international solidarity with endangered women  who are on the run, she says to NRK.
– We live in an age where women are very vulnerable, many are refugees. So of course we have to show our solidarity as we celebrate International Women’s Day. Today we stand together across borders, she said.
The excact number of participants was not known by Tuesday night but Oslo police estimates that around 3,000 people participated in the procession. Whatever the excact number might be, the images from Youngstorget indicates a large number of people taking part.
