Three men charged with gang rape in Sogn

Three men were arrested on Tuesday last week by police, on suspicion of gang raping a woman in Sogn in February. The violence was reported in April.

 

The rape had been carried out jointly by several men in a private residence in Sogn, and the police have been investigating the case since April.

According to a press release from the West police district, the three suspects, all of whom are foreigners, are incarcerated by Sogn og Fjordane District Court with a letter and visit ban for four weeks. The three are residents of Norway.

According to Bergens Tidende, two of the suspects say that they are innocent. One of them opposed imprisonment. The third suspect has accepted the prison sentence, according to his defense lawyer, Anette Stegegerden Norberg.

“My client is cooperating with police,” she told NRK.

The three men are in their 30’s.

The police state that they are still in an early stage of the investigation and that they can not provide more details in the case for investigation purposes.
