Troms: motorcycle driver died after collision with a moose

A foreign motorcycle driver died after he collided, Thursday, with a moose on the E6 at Kåfjord in Troms.

The accident occurred just after 10 o’clock at Steinli E6 Kåfjord, reported Troms Police on Twitter.

‘The man is confirmed dead’, said acting police superintendent at Nordreisa and Kvænangen sheriff’s office – Mads Eriksen Holbø to news agency NTB.

The man, who was a foreign tourist, was accompanied by several motorcyclists when the accident happened.

Police are working to notify the families of the deceased man, and therefore will not yet disclose the age or nationality of the deceased, writes newspaper Nordlys.

The cause of the accident is not known, but Eriksen says they are investigating the accident and that they should talk to the others who were accompanying the deceased.

The others who were driving with the deceased are being taken care of by a crisis team from Kåfjord municipality while the moose which was hit has died in the accident.
