The violent rainfall on Friday meant that three places in central Norway had their wettest August day in 78 years.

The measuring station at Sverresborg in Trondheim, registered 72.8 millimeters of rain between Friday and Saturday morning, writes Adresseavisen. Last time it measured so much rain in August, was in 1940.

Also in Voll, Trøndelag and Innerdalen, Møre og Romsdal, the wetest day of August measured 49.3 and 70.7 millimeters, respectively, within a day.

Not only did Trøndelag beat its own August records but Åfjord may claim the title of ‘wettest place in Norway’ on Friday with 75.1 millimeters of precipitation during that day.
