Two sent to hospital after police cars collided

Four police needed care by health personnel after two police cars crashed into each other on their way to Grünerløkka.

 

Dagbladet newspaper first reported the matter on Saturday night. Early on Sunday morning it was still unclear what caused the accident, which took place at approximately 03.15.

“We had two civil service cars on the way, we did not know the speed, but it was a priority assignment after a message about a stabbing. Both came from each side and then collided with each other at a cross in Thorvald Meyer’s gate on the way to this mission in Birkelunden at Grünerløkka,’’ said operations manager,Tor Guldbransen of Oslo Police District to NTB news.

Two police officers were driven to hospital with injuries,both of whom were conscious, but the extent of their injury is still unknown. According to Gulbrandsen, the other two officials involved in the accident appeared unharmed, but were brought to the emergency room for a check-up. The accident site has been investigated and the roads reopened.

‘’There was no one else injured. Other units stepped in and investigated the violence episode in Birkelunden, which proved to be an exaggeration.There were four people involved, no knife, but one of them had an electric shock weapon.The four were expelled from the site,’’ said the operations manager.
