A 72 years old man is sentenced at Trondenes District Court to prison for two years for having abused his wife for 24 years.
Six months of the sentence for domestic violence is made conditional, writes Nordlys.
According to prosecutors, he regularly did violence against his wife from 1990 to 2014.
In addition to physical violence, a man should have subjected the woman to threats and regular, derogatory and defamatory statements.
The woman told in court that violence – physical as well as psychological – occurred regularly from 80s. In periods, it was so bad that she feared for her own life.
The man has admitted partial guilt for domestic violence charges.
In addition to the prison sentence, 72 years old man was also ordered to pay 150,000 kroner in damages to the aggrieved party, as well as legal costs of 3,000 crowns.
He is also convicted of taking a car without a license while he was under the influence of alcohol. For this he received a fine of 46,500 Kroner.
