Immigration sheds a further 3,800 places in reception centers because fewer asylum seekers are coming to Norway.

The Directorate of Immigration (UDI) reported in August that 7,000 seats at just over 50 refugee centers should be closed with effect from December / January. Now further 3,800 seats are shut down as well.

– This is mainly extraordinary reception centers, but also a few hundred seats in regular centers. This touches unfortunately reception staff, local authorities and residents, states Director Christine Wilberg.

The numbers are now laid down, we have three or four months’ notice and will thus have a contract until January / February 2017.
