UDI will close several receiving centers

Immigration directorate will close 122 reception centers for unaccompanied minor asylum seekers from February 1st next year.

The reason is that so far this year, far fewer asylum seekers have come than previously thought, announced UDI in a statement.

The receptions which will be closed from 1st of February are Holmen reception in Gjerstad, Aust-Agder and same with Fauske reception and Sørfold reception, both in Northern Norway.

Total in Norway, there are now 2,685 seats for unaccompanied minors seeking asylum. Of these, 2024 are in use. They are divided into 71 different reception, which has an average occupancy of 75 percent per Applicants.

In September UDI announced the decision to lay down new 3,800 ordinary reception centers in addition to the 7,000 that were reported in August.
