The US Department of Transportation bans the phone Samsung Galaxy Note 7 on all flights, both domestic and into and out of the United States.

The ban takes on effect Saturday. Samsung stopped the sales of the top model this week after receiving several reports of concern about the phone’s battery catching fire or exploding.

The company has announced a loss of up to $ 5.3 billion.

Now the phone can not be brought along in, or sent by aircraft in the United States. Those who try to bring along these phones will have them confiscated and risk fines.

– We understand that this is an inconvenience for our passengers, but just a single instance of fire on plane can cause major damage and put many lives at risk,  the department says.

Samsung will help the department in informing customers about the new ban. The company also offers customers who have bought the Galaxy Note 7 a refund or getting another phone in exchange.
