The 257-metre-long US warship, USS Iwo Jima, arrived on Tuesday afternoon in Oslofjord, where it will spend the next three days.

The warship is in Norway in connection with the NATO exercise, Trident Juncture, and has been in Trondheim. Now it will be docked outside Akershus fortress until Friday, November 16, wrote Aftenposten newspaper.

The ship, which has a crew of almost 1,700, has a top speed of 22 knots, corresponding to 41 kilometres per hour. USS Iwo Jima also has a capacity for 12 military aircraft of the type V-22 Osprey on board.

“The ship will conduct a port visit in Oslo. The locals in Trondheim have been able to see the ship several times during its period there,’’ said Lieutenant Colonel and spokesman, Ivar Moen, at the Armed Forces operational headquarters.
