The National Court Administration works to ensure that testimonies in Norwegian courts are documented through sound and video recordings.

According to  the newspaper VG  the court administration is  working to get  the expenses for introducing sound recordings in court on  in the state budget for 2017.

– Norway is one of few countries in Europe where the explanations of the accused, parties and witnesses in a case are not secured,  senior adviser Iwar Arnstad in the Court Administration says.

Several lawyers have called for this.

– An opportunity to test the contents of the explanations will enhance legal riights. In addition, the admission of testimony in court have positive effects at an appeal hearing, says Arnstad.
